Murder suspect: Bank’s security guard arrested

He was intercepted by robbers near Niaz Stadium on February 14. The robbers took a sum of Rs130,000 after killing him.

The police arrested a security guard at a private bank and another suspect in the killing of a private security company’s supervisor last week. 


Muhammad Azam Soomro, supervisor at the National Police Foundation, was returning to his office after drawing cash from a United Bank Limited (UBL) branch off Thandi Sarak when he was intercepted by robbers near Niaz Stadium on February 14.

The robbers took a sum of Rs130,000 after killing him. A press statement from the police issued on Monday said that Altaf Deshak, a guard at UBL, was arrested for his involvement in the crime.

Police recovered the weapon used in the incident and some of the looted cash from Deshak. Deshak later told the police that he was abetted in the crime by his relative, Inayat Deshak.
