Target killings: Five men gunned down over personal enmities

A 16-year-old was killed by a stray bullet.

KARACHI: At least six people were gunned down in separate acts of target killing on Monday.

In Mohammad Ali Society, a man identified as 52-year-old Gul Badshah was shot dead, said the Bahadurabad police. They claim that two men on a motorcycle shot Badshah, a security guard by profession, while he was on duty outside one of the bungalows. He was shot five times. People took him to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

The police said that he was from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. They added that his relatives had suggested that he might have been killed over a tribal enmity because his cousin was killed in a similar manner four months ago. They registered FIR no. 71/12 against the suspects on a complaint from Badshah’s relative Zar Mohammad.

Ajmal Khan, 50, was shot dead on his way home from a wedding, said the Sohrab Goth police. They claim that he was shot by two men on a motorcycle near Qayyumabad graveyard. He was shot once in the head. According to SHO Ghaffar Jumani, Ajmal was from Afghanistan and used to work as a labourer. He leaves behind two children. The initial investigation suggests that he was killed over a personal enmity.

According to the Docks police, 30-year-old Ejaz Khan was killed near his house in Macchar Colony. They said that Ejaz was not affiliated with any political or religious party but was killed over a monetary dispute.

A man identified as 29-year-old Asfand Khan was shot dead in a taxi in Madina Town, said the Shah Latif police. According to SHO Amanullah Marwat, Asfand was on his way to Abbas Mohalla in Bin Qasim when he was shot at by suspects on a motorcycle. He said that Asfand was from Kohat and was killed over a personal enmity.

In an unrelated incident 21-year-old Jumma Khan was gunned down while Abdul Basit, 19, was injured in Block 16, Federal B Area, said the Yousuf Plaza police. They claimed that the men worked as labourers and were attacked on their way to Sohrab Goth. The initial investigation suggested that they were mugged. The police registered FIR no. 27/12 against the suspects.

In Karimabad, a 16-year-old boy identified as Mirza Moin Baig was shot dead by a stray bullet, said the Azizabad police. They claim that Baig was sitting in his apartment compound with a friend when the incident happened. SHO Haseeb Qureshi said that Baig was an intermediate student.
