A well-equipped emergency centre will be constructed by the government to effectively tackle medical emergencies in the district.
This was said by Gomal Medical College Principal Dr Muhammad Saleem Gandapur.
He said the tender for the project has already been floated, adding that the centre would be constructed at a cost of Rs150 million in the premises of District Headquarters Hospital.
The 20-bed emergency unit, he said, would be supplied with modern diagnostic equipment, ambulances and communication system to promptly respond to emergency situations.
In addition to that, the local administration has also established a facility at Mufti Mehmood Hospital to diagnose Hepatitis C. So far, 50 patients have been treated free of charge at the facility.
He also said that a blood bank is being built in the district with financial assistance from the German government.
