Sports festival: Youth welcome spring with a colourful event

A total of 16 stalls selling kites, food and garlands were also put on display at the festival.

To bid farewell to winter blues and welcome the onset of spring, youngsters organised a youth sports festival on Monday.


Even though the rain put a bit of a damper, the children, who were overjoyed to be at the festival, made the most out of it through different games.

In addition to that, a total of 16 stalls selling kites, food and garlands were also put on display at the festival.

A number of local bands, including Khumarian and 2 Dees’ also performed at the event, while some young people danced to the tunes of Indian and Pashto songs and gave a festive look to the occasion.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Nomanul Haq, the organiser, said the event aimed to bid adieu to the winter season and welcome the colourful season through entertainment.

Appreciating the organisers’ efforts, Nazish Khan, a visitor said, “I came here with my friends and enjoyed a lot.”

Zarghona Khalid, another visitor, said, “Such events help youngsters keep away from negative activities. They also help to improve the image of Pakhtuns in the country,” she added.

The festival was organised by Youth Senate of Pakistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Corporation.
