FAISALABAD: A three-storey building collapsed on Friday after cracks were developed in its foundation due to digging work in an adjacent plot. Rescue officials said that dozens of labourers had been digging earth in the plot near Chowk Clock Tower for the construction of a building with a basement.

The digging caused cracks in the adjoining building’s base. The labourers were stopped and the building was evacuated on Friday. It collapsed in less than an hour later. No one was injured. The ground floor had shops while the upper two storeys had residential apartments.
