Will someone please tell me how helping catch the world’s most sought-after terrorist amount to betrayal of the state? Was Osama bin Laden not responsible for the deaths of several thousand people and have not al Qaeda and its affiliates created havoc inside Pakistan and killed thousands of innocent Pakistanis? There must be many Pakistanis who are angry with efforts by a Republic member of the US Congress to confer America’s highest civilian award to the doctor, who allegedly helped the Americans track Bin Laden in Abbottabad.
The punishment for conviction of treason is the death penalty. It seems, however, that this would be too harsh given the individual that Dr Afridi helped capture.

He had used a very noble profession to cover up espionage for a foreign country without caring the aftermaths for his own country. Many people in Pakistan especially in tribal areas believe that the people who are aid workers are in fact CIA agents and they are attacked and made hostage in these areas. This incident has made the work of these people very difficult and more dangerous as it confirms their suspicions. Many people believe that these vaccinations are in fact a conspiracy of the western countries to make Pakistanis impotent. This is the reason many people do not give their kids Polio vaccinations. He must be tried on these charges also. This is the position we need to take as a nation to reduce the pressure on Pakistan for his release.
Khan Sahib, You are 100% correct but who would tell our "ARMY GENERALS" and beloved :MULLAHS" who think they know what is good for the country.
One day we will come to the conclusion that the reason for all our ills and suffering was nothing but our own policies designed by our own guards .. Our biggest enemy is illiteracy and uncontrolled population .. the sooner we concentrate on these two and update our curriculum we will be out of this mess.
Masood, We are not RATIONAL people & instead of thinking from our heads we use emotions! No wonder we lost East Pakistan & in the process of losing Baluchistan.
Mr Masood does have a point. Osama Bin Laden after all was the declared outlaw and terrorrist, who has done more harm to Pakistan than any other country, including USA. Our security services failed to catch him and that is a failure on their part. Whatever were the reasons for this lapse, they are not defensible and have only harmed Pakistan. On one telephone call the former army chief Mush dragged us into this war, while he failed to nab the biggest declared terrorist in the world. Something is seriously wrong with the deep state in this country.
