Officials said that a car was targeted in Khaisoor area of the agency's Mir Ali town.
At least eight foreigners were among those killed, officials said.
The attack came hours after a US drone strike targeting a militant compound killed five insurgents in the agency, security officials said.
"Two missiles were fired by a US drone on a compound used by militants in Spalga town near Miranshah and five militants have been killed," a security official said.
The attack was confirmed by two other security officials in Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan region, known as a stronghold of Taliban and al Qaeda linked militants.
Security officials said several other militants were wounded but the exact number was not immediately known.
The latest attack came a week after US missiles killed Badar Mansoor, the most senior Pakistani in al Qaeda, one of America's main targets in the country and wanted for attacks that killed scores of people.
Pakistani officials and a member of his group told AFP that Mansoor who reputedly sent fighters to Afghanistan and ran a training camp in North Waziristan, was killed in a drone strike near the Afghan border.
US officials say Pakistan's tribal belt provides sanctuary to Taliban fighting in Afghanistan, al Qaeda groups plotting attacks on the West, Pakistani Taliban who routinely bomb Pakistan and other foreign fighters.
But the missile attacks fuel widespread anti-American resentment, which is running especially high in Pakistan since US air strikes inadvertently killed 24 Pakistani soldiers in November.
President Barack Obama last month confirmed for the first time that US drones have targeted Taliban and al Qaeda militants on Pakistani soil, a programme that has escalated under his administration.

Is there any logic to think that after the supreem sacrifies of about 5000 U.S. army personel they will leave the region without ensuring the existence of Israeil . I think never . Pakistan is not being run by people like Hamid gul and Saeed . Army knows how to deal the things which they themselves can't deal with .Pak army appears to be on right path . Let the others get frustated .
@Akhtar Are Hamid Gul, hafeezsaeed, haq, terrorists? So Sir, your definition needs to change now & include Army.
Yes to all of the above
@alvi: so the Lal Masjid terrorists were girls of 5-10 year old? & They were mostly women & children whose bodies have to be smuggled out by the Army in the middle of the night & buried, hidden from the media & parents? Why didn't the army cut off power supply, water & food? How many soldiers died if there was so much ammunition?
If Lal Masjid was the center of extremism, many Senior people from Army & ISI visit there even now? So you call them terrorists? Are Hamid Gul, hafeezsaeed, haq, terrorists? So Sir, your definition needs to change now & include Army.
Terrorists eliminated. Good use of Tech. Home countries of foreign terrorists have no objection.
Local hosts of terrorism want to defend them in the name of soveriegnity.
Excellent work to control non-state actors.
Is ISI planting location-transmitters on terrorist hide outs to improve the 'hit rate' of drone rockets & bombs?
Shame on the Pakistani military.
Open the supply route for American soldiers food. They have eaten now and are killing Pakistanis.
Time to replace Kayani and Pasha.
Can this Drone attack be stopped? Yes--- but those beautifull who could do it are not yet born.
Drones work! I wish our Army could develop these drones so we can target TTP too.
@Akthar: I don't know how much you know about Islamic history. Yes the killing of people in Lal masjid was perfectly justifid. You tell me what these children were doing in Fotified Lal Masjid??. No body is suppose to live in a masjid like thier house. It is only to be used for praying.Period. You know what saudi arabia did with the group who occupied Khana Kaba few years ago. They killed them all in Haram-sharif. It is state responsibilty to stop any armed group working against the state Laws. If you want to bring change in the country the only way is going throgh elections not El-Tahrir movement.if people do not vote for you go to some other country . Pakistani people wil fight any attempts to impose any ideas on them by force.
Why there is a strong reaction came from Pakistani State & Army, only when our Soldiers killed by such an attack. I have not seen any action like suspension of NATO Supplies or Boycott of any conference against any attack on Pakistani Soil which killed many civilians. I wonder who is responsible for the life of civilians living in Pakistan.
@shaheen1shaheen2: YOU ARE RIGHT
All this is done with consensus of our insiders. Though it should immediately stop but why are our citizens harboring these elements on their own soil???? Our Army should establish its control in these areas.
@MarkH:
I, personally, don't mind the critique - neither should other supporters of his...all criticism is a learning experience.
To your second point: people on this forum constantly push the "lack of substance" - just what do you want him to say Mark - how would you have him elucidate on a position on for eg. drones?
"The latest attack came a week after US missiles killed Badar Mansoor, the most senior Pakistani in al Qaeda, one of America’s main targets in the country and wanted for attacks that killed scores of people", Drones doing good, no second word about it
No military person can go there. No FC person can go there. No outsider can live or visit there. No civil government working there. No woman is safe. No school is safe. It is such a dreadful place, only DRONES can go and do the job. I love you drones.
The drones are eliminating the most dreaded local and foreign terrorists who might take on the state at a later date to enforce sharia on the whole country. Whatever IK states, these jihadi outfits are unlikely to renounce violence even if all foreign soldiers leave Afghanistan.
@Akhtar: Lal Masjid was not crowded with toddlers. It was occupied by the terrorists who were set free to spread hatred and terror in the society. My family members in Islamabad received threats from the clerics of Lal Masjid as well. From where did all that Ammunition arrived in Lal Masjid and what's the point in keeping all that Ammunition in a worshipping place? If you are forgetting then let me remind you that the complex was besieged from July 3 to July 11, 2007, while negotiations were attempted between the militants and the state's Shujaat Hussain and Ijaz-ul-Haq. Once negotiations failed, the complex was stormed and captured by the Pakistan Army's Special Service Group. A mosque should stay as a mosque not as a centre of extremism and anti-state activities.
@shaheen1shaheen2: Yes shaheen, we are all eagerly awaiting your jihadis. Firstly they should be ready to come over to Kashmir, and secondly it would be interesting to see how many actually manage to cross over to Kashmir to see another sunrise? But I doubt if you understood the implications of the statement I just made.
@Ali Q: The citizens may as well. They're already on the front lines as it is. At least they'll have a fighting chance. The rest... Well, it appears PTI supporters are getting too used to Imran Khan's lack of substance in his words. It's cute how they say it's made up of the educated. They can't be educated when they lack the ability to learn no matter who says it or the proof. It's even extremely uncomplicated. Unless their standard for "educated" is decided by comparison to the less intelligent in Pakistan. For the rest of the civilized world, the educated PTI supporters might be below average by their standards.
hmmm second drone strike? seems like US is mad at trilateral meeting.
And "I will Shoot all the drones" ... Yes I can ....(but i will never do after i come to power ;) )
khan sb will shoot the drones and will open the durand line Geo Imran
You kicked out the American's, cut off their supplies and have effectively abandoned the WOT - and things looks exactly the same and maybe worse. Pretty good evidence that IK simplistic solutions are not going to provide the changes he has promised.
@Alvi saheb, you express disgust at Talibs but no disgust at what army has done. Was massacre of children justified at Lal masjid by the Army to please the Chinese? Was Arrest of HuT activists in Army justified? I know liberals like you won't respond!
The mighty ababeels at work again puttting the fear of Allah into them Talibunnies ; Drones will soon have a cult following inducing these cavemen to bow five times a day before them !!!
@shaheen1shaheen2: And that will be the end of mujahideens & jihadists. We also warmly welcome them to Kashmir
Pray Allah to do more drone strikes to remove the criminal gangs from the soil of Pakistan.
@Akthar: I am indeed not a Muslim like the ones working for TTP and Co (Lashkar e Jhangvi, Sipah e Sahaba, Lashkar e Taiba) and killing innocent citizens in the name of Islam. Neither abducting and beheading helpless people is a part of my believes Nor I have any sympathy whatsoever for those who are involved in these hideous acts of barbarianism.
Not a Big News......We know it won't stop..
@shaheen1shaheen2: you are 100% right. Allah is the greatest of all, everyone know USSR split in Afghanistan. Till the end of war Russians believed that they are winning the war. Talibans remains in the heart of people of Afghanistan. 1996-2001 was the golden time of Afghanistan.
at Ali Salman Alvi:
Are you a true Muslim? Shame on You. May Allah PBUH guide you to be a true Muslim.
@shaheen1shaheen2:
Taliban attacks US soldiers when they take lunch and dinner. Rest of the time they are in caves..lol.. If this is called as winning the battle then they have definitely won.
@shaheen1shaheen2: inshallah this war will soon be over and mujahideen will take the battle to kashmir
So now you have started digging grave for yourself. Pls do it.. bcoz this will be the last time you would get a chance...you know what I mean.
@shaheen1shaheen2: And when they do go into Kashmir, there will be no more Pakistan.
Get back to earth and understand the reality. PAK army cannot go into Waziristan due to domestic politics but aiding the US in drone strikes and mutual targets are obliterated. Is it hard for anyone in PAK to understand?
Omar and Haqqani are left for the last.
Only if Pakistan could use Drones to eliminate TTP and Co. operating from the same region.
I remember someone talking about shooting down drones?
@shaheen1shaheen2: Lol !! You have a great sense of humour !!
this is just like the terminator series, except the machines are the good guys.
the mujahideen are decisively defeating the axis of evil.america is frustrated.inshallah this war will soon be over and mujahideen will take the battle to kashmir.
Once Imran khan is in power, he will win the people's hearts, ensure the world that terrorism will not emanate from Pakistan and clean house. Yes, yes, his detractors will say its all been done before, to which I will say it hasn't been done by civilian-clothed competent/trustworthy leaders...this war needs to be fought with civilians leading the way. In the meantime, if the economy stabilizes a bit, it will give people something to do other than hate. Here's to hoping, fellow PTI supporters!!!
