K-P panel discusses missing persons’ cases

The apex committee responsible for the recovery of missing persons met at the Governor House on Wednesday to discuss progress on ongoing efforts.

The meeting was presided over by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Barrister Masud Kasur and attended by Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Khalid Rabbani, and other officials including provincial heads of intelligence agencies.

A statement issued from the Governor House said the committee discussed the recovery of missing persons, and law enforcement agencies briefed the meeting about the efforts they have made so far.

The statement quoted the KP governor as telling the participants that “the recovery of missing persons was a serious issue, and concerned agencies were conducting tireless efforts for quite some time.”

The statement added that “though the efforts were satisfactory; more was needed for the recovery of all persons.”

The governor said the implementation of all the directions of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) would be ensured at all costs. He also said that implementation of the ‘Action in Aid of Civil Power’ regulation will help ensure the protection of human rights.

The meeting, discussing law and order issues in the province, stressed on strict security in settled areas sharing borders with tribal areas, and emphasised on the importance of curbing kidnapping incidents.
