Nishan-e-imtiaz: Two Catholics up for awards

Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan recommended two missionaries, Father Robert McCulloch and Sister John Berchmans Conway.

KARACHI: Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan recommended two missionaries, Father Robert McCulloch and Sister John Berchmans Conway, for the Nishan-e-Imtiaz award on Tuesday. Father Robert McCulloch, an Australian native, has served on the administrative board for Hyderabad’s St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, a non-profit institution, which is owned by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hyderabad. McCulloch also chairs the board of directors for the Centre of Academic Excellence, a project that provides educational, spiritual and moral support to 40 Catholic boys and young men with proven academic ability from the Diocese of Hyderabad. Sister John Berchmans Conway is the principal of the Convent of Jesus and Mary, an all girls’ school in the city. She has been involved with the country’s education sector for the last 59 years and is also known for her efforts to boost interfaith harmony in Pakistan.
