
Three alleged killers of Zaeem Ranjha, son of slain DSP Nawaz Ranjha were remanded to the custody of Investigating Officer till February 23 by an anti-terrorism court here on Monday.
Syed Ali Raza, son of Muhammad Raza, Syed Ali Raza, son of Ataullah, and Mohammad Zohaib were arrested on February 10 after a joint operation by CPLC and AVCC police tracking the mobile phone record. The accused led police first to a place in Malir and later to a plot with boundary in Architects and Engineers Society from where the decomposed body of 12-year-old Zaeem was dug out.
The body was shifted to Jinnah hospital for autopsy which revealed that victim was choked to death by his murderers half an hour after abduction for ransom.
Police registered a case against the accused under sections 365-A, 302, 34 of Pakistan Penal Code read with section 7 of the Anti Terrorism Act, 1997. The accused were produced before the judge, Bashir Ahmed Khoso. A request for physical custody of accused for 14 days was made but the court granted 10 days remand till February 23.
The accused were carrying out petty electrical and other works at under construction house of DSP Nawaz Ranjha who was assassinated in a target killing incident some years back. They developed acquaintance with the teenage boy and called him on his cellular phone on the day of incident, kidnapped and strangulated him to death fearing identification. They demanded Rs20 million for release and later lowered ransom money to five million but were arrested as their mobile phones were tracked.
