A superb all-round performance from Andre Russell guided Khulna Royals Bengals to a 19-run win over Dhaka Gladiators in their Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
Russell hit a brisk 37, enabling Bengals reach a competitive 175 after they were reduced to 116 for five in the 16th over. The West Indies international's 15-ball cameo included three sixes and two fours as he added 59 for the sixth wicket with Nasir Hossain. Shakibal Hasan contributed a crucial 42.
In reply, Gladiators were off to a reasonable start with Pakistan's Azhar Mahmood steering the team to 63 for one before Russell claimed his first victim. The fast-bowler added three more scalps as Dhaka were restricted to 156 for seven.
Burners post comfortable win
In another BPL encounter, Barisal Burners prevailed over Duronto Rajshahi by 22 runs.
Ahmed Shehzad's 67 guided Burners to 180 for two, which proved more than enough as Rajshahi were restricted to 158 for nine. Only opener Mizanur Rahman offered any kind of resistance, making 65, as the rest of the batsmen failed to contribute.
