Shalimar express: Workshop directed to complete work by Feb 13

LAHORE:

The railway authorities have directed its workshops to complete the refurbishment of Shalimar Express by February 13 so that the suspended train service can be restored from February 15.

The Shalimar Express was suspended last year and is being restored under a private-public partnership. The refurbished train, if the work is completed by February 13, is scheduled for a trial run on February 14.

If the trial run is successful it will leave for Karachi on the morning of February 15 ands reach its destination by midnight.

Meanwhile, the private company, who was awarded a contract to run the business train between Lahore and Karachi, is yet to pay Rs3 million that it owes the Pakistan Railways. The Business Train was started on February 3.
