KARACHI:

The Panjgoor Oil Tankers Association’s president, Haji Abdul Ghani Baloch, has requested the Balochistan High Court chief justice and the chief minister to provide him security against the local administration of Panjgoor.

“The deputy commissioner (DC) has turned against me as I have protested against his malpractices at Panjgoor,” said Ghani. “He takes extortion money from the oil tankers at every check-post.”

He alleged that the Levies personnel tried to kill him on orders from the Panjgoor Naib-Tehsildar, Arif Baloch on January 31.

According to Ghani, he approached a construction site near his land and as he tried to speak to the Naib-Tehsildar, the Levies opened fire. Ghani was shot in the leg and taken to Javed Complex. He was later on shifted to the Aga Khan Hospital.

Ghani accused the deputy commissioner, Panjgoor Shakarullah Baloch, for being responsible for the attack. He has demanded a judicial inquiry of the attack and the DC’s dismissal from office.
