HYDERABAD:

Many students were forced to go home from university on Thursday as no classes were held at Sindh University, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Sindh Agriculture University and the Quaid-e-Awam University, following the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association orders to suspend all academic activities for four days.

The general secretary of the MUET’s teachers association, Dr Arshad Memon told The Express Tribune that they couldn’t inform the students about the boycott earlier. He added that students weren’t expected to turn up on campus till February 13.

The president of the Quaid-e-Awam University’s teachers association said that a complete boycott was observed at the campus in Shaheed Benazirabad. SU’s teachers association blocked the area around Vice Chancellor Nazir A Mughal’s house. “My doors are open for dialogue,” said Mughal while distributing regularisation orders to 252 administrative staff members at an event. He asked the teachers to start teaching again and added that their demands would be considered.
