QUETTA: A shutter-down strike was observed in different parts of Balochistan on Thursday to condemn the killings of the niece and sister of the chief of the Baloch Republican Party (BRP) Bramdagh Bugti. The strike call was given by BRP and backed by National Party (NP) and other nationalist parties. A complete shutter-down was observed in Turbat, Dera Allahyar,  Naushki, Khuzdar, Mastung, Hub, Washuk, Khuzdar and other townships of the province. The business and trade activities in these areas came to a halt due to the strike. Stringent security measures were adopted to deal with any untoward incident in these areas. There was a partial shutter down-strike in Quetta as well. Shops and markets in Saryab and adjacent localities remained closed for the day. The BRP called for a wheel jam strike across the province on February 4 and 5 to register its protest against the killing of women.
