Rs1 million looted from bank in Karachi

According to area’s Deputy Superintendent of Police, the bandits came in three cars and were aged between 25-35.

KARACHI: Nine armed men looted a private bank in the Jamshed Quarter area of Karachi on Tuesday, Express News reported. The armed men managed to take away Rs1 million.

Express News correspondent Wasiq Muhammad reported that the bandits entered the bank at 10:41am and held the staff hostage, and took away the cash available at the counter.

According to the area’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), the bandits came in three cars and were aged between 25-35 years. He said that the robbers also took away the CCTV footage with them.

Muhammad also reported that an amount of Rs7 million from the bank’s head office was expected to be deposited at the Jamshed Quarter branch today.

In 2011, 17 banks were robbed and law enforcement agencies have yet to arrest anyone. It emerged that in each robbery, the men first snatched the weapons from the security guards seemingly without any resistance from them.
