Pentangular Cup: Sami, Kaneria on song for Sindh

Share eight wickets in Pentangular Cup clash, dismiss Balochistan for 164.

Sindh continued their good form in the Faysal Bank Pentangular Cup as they played themselves into a commanding position on the opening day of their second round match against Balochistan courtesy devastating bowling from captain Mohammad Sami and leg-spinner Danish Kaneria.

According to information provided by the Pakistan Cricket Board, Sami and Kaneria combined to skittle Balochistan out for 164. Sami, who had starred for his team in the first match against Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa with 10 wickets, was on song again as he finished with figures of four for 31 in 11.4 overs.

Kaneria was equally effective as he claimed four for 65, while Tabish Khan finished with two for 44.

Anwar offers resistance

For Balochistan, the standout performer was Saeed Anwar who contributed 75 with the help of 12 boundaries and a six. Rizwan Haider supported him with a rapid 31, which included three maximums. Naveed Yasin was the other significant contributor with 20.

In reply, Sindh were off to a confident start and finished the day on 127 for one. Shahzaib Hasan was unbeaten on 66, an innings that included seven hits to the fence, while Aqeel Anjum was 30 not out.

Haider picked up the lone wicket to fall, that of Sharjeel Khan who was dismissed for 19. Sindh will resume their innings today trailing by 37 runs.
