Explosive Education: Multiple bombs destroy school, take life

Boys primary school located at the Khalo Khan Kalay was targeted by militants in the early hours of the morning.

PESHAWAR: Two bomb explosions at a government-run primary school in the Landikotal sub-division of Khyber Agency not only destroyed the building, but also killed a security person while injuring two others. The boys primary school located at the Khalo Khan Kalay was targeted by militants in the early hours of the morning, destroying two of the four rooms and outer walls of the school, said a senior official of the political administration, Abdul Nabi. When the Khasadar force reached the school to investigate the incident, another Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off injuring three people, two of which were security men. The injured were identified as Waliullah, Murtaza Khan and Abdullah, who were shifted to the Agency Headquarter Hospital in Landikotal. Murtaza Khan succumbed to injuries while the other two were under treatment.

IEDs have become a serious issue in the country. Although, terrorism has been subdued, but still there is a strong need to regulate the trade of those commodities that can be used in the preparation of IEDs.
