Workshop: Civic education for youth stressed

Speakers at a workshop on Monday said lack of proper skills and civic education are major factors contributing to social disorder and anxiety among young people.


These views were expressed by experts and participants at the end of the four days’ long capacity building workshop on Active Citizenship Programme aimed for education of youth.

The event was organised by the Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme sponsored by the British Council, Islamabad. The objectives of active citizenship programme are to develop leadership skills in youngsters and facilitate community and ensure political participation amongst them through interaction with local community, organisations and governments.

The speakers stressed on cross-cultural communication and dialogue and its role in community participation. They discussed the
importance of active citizenship, culture, intercultural dialogue and leadership skills.
