Women’s summit: Turkish, Afghan leaders to share lessons today

Ayesha Tammy Haq will lead the session on local entrepreneurs and their success stories.

The voice of Afghan Radio during the war, Jamila Mujahed, Rokia Afzal Rehman, a former minister from Bangladesh and famous author Elif Shafak from Turkey will be speaking today at an international women leader’s conference. The summit is being organised as part of the Women in Business Conference series. It starts at 9:30am at the Marriott hotel and will go on till about 5pm.


Afzal Rehman will deliver the keynote address on ‘Enterprising Women - Lessons from South & Far East Asia’. Mujahed will share her experiences on ‘Tools of Education for Afghan Women during War’, while Shafak will speak on ‘Women, Modern Day Living and Spirituality’.

Asad Umar, the president of the Pakistan Business Council, Naved A Khan of the Overseas Chamber of Commerce and Mian Abrar of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce will discuss the role of businesses in promoting gender diversity.

Bureaucrat Begum Nasreen Haque, Ayesha Aziz, Nadira Panjwani, and Yasmin Lari will discuss the success of women in public and private sectors. Ayesha Tammy Haq will lead the session on local entrepreneurs and their success stories with Sana Safinaz, Farzeen Irtizaz.
