Whodunit?: Police constable shot dead

A police constable identified as 32-year-old Shahid Khan was shot dead near Ghausia Baloch Colony in Orangi Town on Tuesday, said the Pakistan Bazaar police.


Khan was on his way home to Sector-J in Chandni Chowk when two men on a motorcycle shot at him near Sector 11.5. He was shot in the chest and taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The police suspect that Khan had tried to resist being mugged as his cell phone and wallet were missing and his TT pistol was found next to the body.

DSP Tariq Malik claims that the suspects probably shot Khan when he took out his pistol in an act of self-defence. He said that the constable was not connected to the Karachi operation.

The funeral prayers were offered in Sector 11 and were attended by SITE Town SP Akram Abro. Khan was laid to rest in Tauheed Colony Graveyard.

The police registered FIR No. 15/12 against the suspects on a complaint from Khan’s brother-in-law Naseer Alam and have started an investigation.
