LAHORE: A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court on Monday seeking a judicial inquiry into the deaths of more than two dozen patients allegedly due to use of medicines provided by the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC). Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique filed the petition submitting that the deaths were a result of “sheer negligence.” He stated that the Health Department had failed to take any action against those responsible. He requested the court to set up a commission to investigate and fix responsibility in this regard.
