The decision to postpone the event, titled “Prosperous Sindh, Strong Pakistan” was taken at a joint meeting of the coordination committee, according to a press release issued by the MQM. The party said that it will announce a new date later.
The MQM chief, Altaf Hussain, had said in a speech on December 28 that the rally will be the largest in the area’s history.
The deputy convener of the party Dr Farooq Sattar said on Sunday that the party will back the resolution presented by Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali on Friday, in support of democracy in the National Assembly. However, the MQM told the government and President Asif Ali Zardari to refrain from a confrontation between institutions.

Inshallla we will prove our self that we r the future of Pakistan and we make Pakistan together and strong with the belt of capacity of sindh.
@Wahaj Shariff: You want to remind us that Pakistan was part of Mughal Empire or Persian Empire before the British came? What difference does that make to politics now? What difference does it make that Pakistan was ruled by Greek Empire of Alexander too? The reality is that Pakistan has an old history long before the British. Mohenjendaro was there long before the Aglo Saxon British even existed as a race on the British Isles! So yes the people of Pakistan don't need you to tell us about British created Sardars or Waderas etc. We take inspiration from cultures which are older than the British who ruled India for a few hundred years. Getting back to politics, untill the native people of Sind are given preference in their own province by MQM instead of Indian migrants, MQM will lose its limted support in urban Sind too. That's why no one in Sukkur who is not Muhajir supports MQM and no one shows up for their rally.
@Amjad: If you are not taking MQM as serious contenders its fine because I think you are not aware that all the governments since the birth of MQM takes MQM very seriously. MQM is the third largest party, MQM has a seats/representation from Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Nawabshah, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, so kindly stop chanting the old blame that MQM represent any one ethnic group.
@Amjad & others like him!
Before independence and migration can you recall what was Pakistan I bet nothing, it was only due to honest, hard work and knowledge of migrants Indian which gave whatever prominence Pakistan had example PIA was one of the best airlines in 60's & 70's, Habib bank plaza was the tallest building in Asia at that time, the list goes on & on, even Pakistan army owes to migrants. Nuclear program was headed by a migrant, education, industry, legal system, institutions, research, commerce, arts etc EVERYTHING this piece of land progressed immensely due to the migrants, read history and then speak, what a bunch of thankless souls. now look whats happening everywhere. I guess people here were better off, happy, well fed & treated humanely, by british made sardars, waderas, chaudhries who are still worshiped as part of CULTURE & TRADITION in villages, wat a joke man Alas we migrants just could not change the mindset of the locals population..
@Amjad: dear i think u dont know about sukkur
mqm will lead the victory in coming elections around pakistan, people have to accept methodologies of mqm and start following it
No one in Sukkur cares about the MQM since they have a limited base among one ethnic group of Indian migrants in Karachi. Until MQM thinks about larger national interests instead of playing minor ethnic politics in Karachi, no one will take them as serious contenders.
MQM simply the best.
Like who cares about MQM anyways
@Asif Nizamani: MQM could gather millions in 24 hrs. It was postponed due to the uncertain political situation in Pak.
Couldn't get enough people to come in their rally??
