PALPA says PIA violating safety rules

PALPA spokesman said that just before the crash PALPA had pointed out the violation of air safety regulations by PIA.

Pakistan Air Line Pilots’ Association (PALPA) spokesman said that just before the crash, PALPA had pointed out the violation of air safety regulations by the Flight Operations Directorate of PIA as the management was compelling pilots to fly longer than internationally laid down rules thus putting passengers’ safety at peril.

The Civil Aviation Authority must take notice of these violations before it is too late.

He said that continuous violations of air safety rules will not only affect the sanctity of the aviation industry in Pakistan but will ruin the safety record of the national flag carrier as well.

“The horrific plane crash signifies the importance of flight safety laws and passengers safety measures, he said.

PALPA since its inception has been stressing on international flight safety standards.

“PALPA recently organised an international safety seminar providing a platform to the aviation professionals to discover new ideas for improving air safety and raised public awareness for their contribution to the cause besides identifying existing critical issues in the aviation industry which affect aviation safety,” the spokesman added.

ramsha | 13 years ago | Reply Firstly, id like to suggest that you get your facts straight. the co-pilots name was not muntajib chughtai as indicated above. His name was Syed Muntajibuddin Ahmed.Its disturbing that even today, nearly two weeks after the crash, news channels as well as newspapers are printing the wrong name. Secondly, the fact that you are suggesting pilot error and promptly placing the blame on the co pilot is both unfair and horrifying. unfair because there is no proof, and horrifying because one person is being blamed for the death of 152 passengers when i know for a fact that the pilot was experienced as well as excellent at his chosen vocation. Also, like most channels etc. are indicating, it was not his second flight, he had been flying for airblue for more then a year and had years worth of flying experience in the airforce before. He was an ace mirage and f-16 pilot as well as a retired squadron leader. I suggest you stop making accusations and in the future get your facts straight before writing such preposturous articles and introducing such ideas to an already gullible public.
Fahd Hassan | 13 years ago | Reply PALPA is being PALPA; living up to its reputation of harming the PIA...at least some in the CAA are of the opinion. Yes the PIA does violate safety sometimes no questions about it but here they are playing politics with a crash. Had PALPA been seriously concerned about flight safety, Pilot fatigue alone wouldn't have been referred to when it came to the issue of flying safe. In 2006 a PIA F-27 Fokker crashed just outside the Multan airport on take off roll. You wouldn't have heard PIA tell you about sluggish Flight Deck (Pilots) response to a simple engine failure problem that day, nor would you have heard PALPA take the PIA Engineering to task who knew the plane had a history with the failed engine and yet cleared that aircraft to take flight that hot day..at least for a while. Who cares...its Pakistani lives isn't it.
