Embezzlement: 7 irrigation officials arrested

A case regarding the embezzlement of Rs206 lacs has been registered against nine officials.

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Seven irrigation department officials have been arrested for embezzling millions of rupees in the second phase of the construction of the Munchan dyke. According to police officials, most of the accused belong to Rahim Yar Khan and Sadiqabad. Media reports recently revealed that the dyke had been constructed with substandard materials and was unlikely to hold.  After an inquiry, a case regarding the embezzlement of Rs206 lacs has been registered against nine officials. On Saturday, the pre-arrest bails of the accused were rejected. Following this, three sub-divisional officers (SDOs) and four sub engineers were arrested. The accused have been sent to the City-A division police station and police are searching for two accused who escaped.
