Cabinet approves 3 more women universities

CM Sharif directed that the universities be set up at divisional headquarters where women universities do not exist.

LAHORE:

A cabinet meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Saturday approved several draft laws including those for the establishment of three universities for women in the province, the setting up of a knowledge city at Rakh Dera Chahal, Evacuee Trust Properties (Management and Disposal) Amendment Bill 2012 and a policy aimed at plying CNG buses in big cities.

The meeting presided over by the chief minister also reviewed the Punjab Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority Act 2012 and decided that a cabinet committee consider the recommendations and that the recommendations be widely circulated to seek public feedback.

The meeting decided that recommendations with regard to setting up an information technology university matching international standards be submitted at the next meeting. It also decided that the Net Café Regulations Act be submitted again after review.

Sharif disclosed that an agreement with regard to establishing an information technology university had also been made during his visit to Turkey. While giving approval to new women universities in Bahawalpur, Sialkot and Faisalabad.

Sharif directed that the universities be set up at divisional headquarters where women universities do not exist. Sharif said that Rakh Dera Chahal land be utilised for promotion of educational activities.

He disclosed that 575 additional CNG buses are being imported. Besides Lahore, the buses would run in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and Gujranwala. Some buses would be sent to Bahawalpur. He said that CNG should be provided for public transport throughout the week.

Sharif constituted a cabinet committee headed by the law minister with regard to an amendment in Section 19 of the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act 2006 and added that the committee should submit its report after reviewing that amendment.

The chief minister directed to constitute a committee headed by the chief secretary regarding provision of facilities to special persons and amendment in the Punjab Social Services Board Ordinance 1970.
