FAISALABAD:

Eight accused reportedly set the house of a local woman on fire over an old rivalry on Thursday.

According to police officials, Siddupura resident Sarwar Bibi said that eight men from her village broke into her house on Thursday night and sprinkled kerosene oil all over her house. “They tried to burn me and my family alive because of a land dispute,” she said.  Sarwar Bibi said that a man from the accused’s family was recently killed over the same issue and her three sons had been imprisoned in this regard.

Sarwar told police that the accused including Ashfar, Azhar and Shams broke into her house and set it on fire burning all her furniture. She said that she barely survived after jumping out of the window to protect herself from the flames.

Police officials have registered a case under Sections 380 and 436 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). An investigation team has also been constituted for the arrest of the accused within the next 24 hours.
