Hussain appealed to the Taliban leadership and fighters to understand "the conspiracies of the enemies."
The MQM has been staunchly against the Taliban and have run multiple campaigns against them in the past.
It had earlier been reported that ‘secret talks’ between Pakistan’s security agencies and the local Taliban – who have reportedly splintered down into many different groups – had entered a decisive phase.
Both sides were hoping that negotiations would culminate in a ‘lasting’ agreement to help restore peace in the country’s lawless tribal lands.

my pakistani brothers and sisters,We need to establish here are we against taliban or are we against ALTAF HUSSAIN the way some of you guys writing these comments its very hard to understand that if any one dont like MQM dont vote for them but if Altaf Hussain saying that he wants to talk to taliban there is nothing wrong with that and brother hassan in our islamic history OUR prophet did migrated with all the sahabas because they wanted to practice the islam without any fear but in the end they did conquered the makkah without any battle.i live in england does it mean that i cant say something or do something in the welfare of Pakistan all iam trying to say is we need to take the comments in "positive way"and brother Hassan THE PRESIDENT OF PAKISTAN WENT TO DUBAI FOR HIS HEART TREATMENT do you understand what i am trying to say to you.
I'm all for the MQM, but this is hilarious. What position is Altaf Hussain in to negotiate with the Taliban? This guy makes ridiculous statements all the time; sometimes I think its just to get attention. MQM seriously deserves a better/saner head.

@bhai: excuse me for pointing out the obvious. 10 years ago Al-Qaida and Taliban were too strong and wanted to twist every ones arms by demanding too much in negotiations. During 10 years they have suffered and weakened too. Top leadership is largely gone. You couldnt possibly negotiate without giving away everything. And imagine Bush vs Binladen 10 years ago.
Now, I believe that we will see some positive changes in the current situation of Pakistan, b/c all the other leaders "IK" only talks, but when AH says anything he practically proves it...another six by MQM...
He is a true pakistani. Being a mohajir myself i can feel his concern like no one else can.

US government is in secret talk with Taliban and the CIA has removed the name of Mullah Omar from the wanted criminal list.
On the other hand Taliban has been allowed to open offices in different countries.
Taking in view of the consideration, Mr. Altaf Hussain has taken the initiative to talk to Taliban.
I wonder if some political party may award a ticket to a Taliban for contesting Senate election scheduled to be held in the month of March 2012. If not this time, Taliban will make their way to get National Assembly tickets from FATA and KP.
I really dont understand why anyone wants to make peace with the Taliban when their leaders like faqir mohd clearly state they wont stop fighting until they implement their own twisted version of Sharia in Pakistan. How much longer will this madness persist?

In the current political situation of Pakistan where everything is extremely fragile right now......this is a great call. We are already fighting within and trying to determine who is "Traitor", and then the news comes in that 15 20 FC personal are kidnapped and coldblooded murdered. If we can avoid this by talking to Taliban.....why not? I salute Altaf Hussain for his vision.
