KARACHI: All compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in Sindh and Balochistan will remain closed for 24 hours from 9am Friday to 9am Saturday, said Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). The company is still facing gas shortage in the current winter season because of the rise in demand. Pakistan is facing the worst gas crisis this winter. According to government estimates, gas demand has risen above 6 billion cubic feet (bcf) per day while supply is less than 4bcf because of which gas supply to CNG outlets and the industry is being curtailed. Analysts say the government needs to further squeeze the CNG sector, so that residential consumers and the industry could get enough gas in times of shortage.
