SUKKUR:

It has been around 36 hours since two bank managers went missing between Sukkur and Ghotki on Monday morning. Their car was found abandoned near the vegetable market of Ghotki in the evening.

The men worked in Mirpur Mathelo branches of the bank. When they didn’t reach their offices, the bank staff tried to reach them on their cell phones which were switched off. Later, the staff contacted their families and informed them that they were missing. The families then registered a complaint with “C” Section police station.

One man’s son said that his father usually left the house at 7 am and always called home when he reached work. But when he didn’t call till 9 am, the family got worried.

The deputy general manager of operations at one bank said that footage from the closed-circuit cameras installed at the toll plaza showed that the bankers passed through it at about 7:30 am.

On the other hand, the Sukkur and Ghotki police both have not yet registered a case for the men’s kidnapping. SSP Sukkur Saqib Ismail Memon said that the officers were kidnapped from the jurisdiction of Ghotki police.

He said that as per the instructions of Sindh IG the case will be registered at the police station in whose jurisdiction the car was found abandoned.

SSP Ghotki Pir Mohammad Shah was not available for comment.
