LAHORE:

The Lahore Waste Management Company on Tuesday organised an activity at Government Model High School, Rang Mahal, to raise awareness among students on the importance of cleanliness.

The LWMC’s cleanliness campaign, School Awareness Programme, is aimed at educating children in public schools. LWMC officials said that the number of students in the LWMC’s School Safai Gang after this activity has now reached 225.

Students were given lectures and shown presentations on how to keep the environment clean. Besides these, a painting competition and a prize distribution ceremony were also held. However, the highlight of the activity was the session in which students joined the LWMC staff to pick waste from the school.

Christina Patras, the LWMC communications assistant manager, addressed the students on the significance of hygiene. She stressed the importance of a sense of responsibility.

She said, “This activity is a part of the company’s efforts to make children learn about their surroundings and protecting it, rather than relying on sanitation workers and labourers alone.”

LWMC aims at multiplying the number of students in its School Safai Gang.

Fariha Shad, the operations assistant manager, gave students some tips to add to their daily routine to stay cleaner and make their environment more hygienic.

The Government Model High School, Rang Mahal principal, Chaudhry Muhammad Abbas, appreciated LWMC’s efforts for mobilising students.
