Dr Naeem sent on 3 day physical remand, again

Dr Naeem was arrested on Sunday on charges of embezzlement.

LAHORE: A Special Judicial Magistrate, Zafer Iqbal on Monday granted three-day physical remand of Dr Majid Naeem, the Ex-Principal of Punjab University College of Information Technology, to an anti-corruption department.

Dr Naeem was arrested on Sunday night and produced before the court on charges of embezzling Rs250,000.

The court handed over the accused to said department directing to produce him again before the court by January 11.

As per details, Anti-corruption unit had arrested Dr Naeem on charges of embezzling Rs250,000 by purchasing machinery for his personal use.

Dr Naeem had been nominated in a reference of NAB on charges of withdrawing Rs3.9 million from university funds without approval of competent authority. The court though released him after he promised to pay back the misappropriated amount to NAB Punjab through a plea bargain deal.
