FAISALABAD: The city government, on the directives of the Punjab government, has set up monitoring centres and complaint cells and placed revenue officers at all sugar mills of the city in an effort to protect the rights of sugarcane growers. The move came following an incident at Hunza Sugar Mills in which one grower was killed and another was seriously injured allegedly by security guards a couple of weeks ago. Revenue officers have been assigned the task to register complaints of growers and take immediate action. Farmers can also contact these centres in case of non-payment for their produce or less weighing of sugarcane.
