Training Programme: Sindh has 4,325 Aids patients

Around 140 people in Sindh have died because of Aids in the past few years.

KARACHI: Around 140 people in Sindh have died because of Aids in the past few years, while there are around 4,325 people who have HIV across the province, said experts at a three-day training programme on ‘Prevention from HIV/Aids’ at Patel Hospital on Monday. Out of the total, 4,130 patients are HIV positive while 195 suffer from Aids, said the provincial vaccination coordinator, Dr Munawar Khan. Dr Syed Muhammad Khan, of Pakistan Red Crescent, said the numbers of  HIV/Aids patients were increasing in the country but awareness in schools, colleges and at the community level can help curb its spread.
