Green Mile Inmate Prisoner gets 18th death sentence

A death row prisoner at Central Jail I Sukkur, Hafiz Jaleel Morejo, will be hanged on January 12.

SUKKUR: A death row prisoner at Central Jail I Sukkur, Hafiz Jaleel Morejo, will be hanged on January 12, according to the 18th black warrant issued by the Naushehro Feroze Additional Session Judge. His last death sentence was issued on October 13, but the President postponed his execution till December 31. Morejo was arrested for murder in 1997 and was challaned at the district and sessions court of Naushehro Feroz. He was bailed out in 1999, but was rearrested after two months. His appeals against the verdict were rejected by both, the Sindh High Court and Supreme Court. He was first sentenced to death on March 14, 2008, but the then government delayed his execution for three months, till December 31, 2011.
