Technical training: UAF sets up camp in Chak 260-RB

Programme to impart technical skills among the villagers, particularly women.

FAISALABAD: University of Agriculture Faisalabad  (UAF) has established a training camp in Chak 260- RB, Union Council 133, Dijkot, under its outreach programme to impart technical skills among the villagers, particularly women. A UAF spokesman said on Sunday that four more centres would  soon be opened in other villages of the union council. He said short courses in beauty parlour management, stitching, cooking, computer operation, first aid and preservation of food items would be arranged at these camps. He said UAF’s Education and Extension Division’s director Dr Tanveer Ali had been appointed as the principal investigator of the project while Home Economics department chairperson Naheed Abbas will be the co-principal investigator. He said about 150 women had so far been registered for courses at these camps. Prof Tanveer Ali said that the project was meant to equip people with skills that could help them in boosting their earnings. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the camp, Entomology Department chairman Professor Anjum Sohail briefed the villagers on dengue virus  and its prevention measures. A lecture on poultry industry was also held at the event. Under the project, several topics on telegraphy, spoken English, cooking and personality development have already been arranged at the university campus.
