Public Safety: CNG association to set up 40 inspection centres

The CNG Stations Association would set up as many as 40 installation, inspection and certification stations in the Punjab across during next three days, Capt (retired) Muhammad Yousaf, the transport secretary, announced on Thursday.


He was chairing a meeting of the representatives of OGRA, CNG stations association, Hydrocarbon Development Authority of Pakistan and the Transporters Association. It was decided in the meeting that the checking stations, having checked the CNG cylinders in the vehicles, would issue a specific sticker to the vehicle owner to be affixed on the windscreen.

CNG stations would also be fixed with scanners which having read the sticker, would allow the vehicles to be filled with CNG. It was also decided in the meeting that CNG cylinders installed in all private vehicles, would have to be replaced after five years or they might get the fitness certificate from the concerned authority. The life of cylinders installed in public transport vehicles will be determined by OGRA. CNG stations association would extend the number of installation and certification stations to 100.
