An inter-university quiz competition on ‘Constitutionalism and Federalism’ was held at Lok Virsa Auditorium.

Students from across the country proved their mettle at a quiz competition and declamation contest that were held in the capital on Thursday, said separate press releases issued by the organisers of the two events.


An inter-university quiz competition on ‘Constitutionalism and Federalism’ was held at Lok Virsa Auditorium, in which students from four educational institutions of the twin cities participated. The competition was based on three rounds. The final round of the competition was based on questions regarding the 18th Amendment.

The first competition was won by Preston University’s team comprising Khalid Mahmood and Alvina Ijaz, while Federal Post Graduate College secured the second position in it.

In the second competition, Quaid-i-Azam University’s team led by Rana Muhammad Dilawar and Syeda Sehrish Batool secured the first position, while Arid Agriculture University’s team stood second.

Meanwhile, Air University (AU) and International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) emerged as the winning teams at the “All Pakistan Inter-university Debate Contest”.

The two teams from the capital bagged the Allama Iqbal shield after an intense round of speeches that were held at IIUI.

Around 50 speakers from 19 universities, including Karakoram International University and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) university participated in the competition that was organised in collaboration with Higher Education Commission(HEC).

In the English debates, Hamza Khan from AU clinched first position; the second prize went to Paras Jabeen from National University of Modern Languages and Muhammad Tayyab Anwar from the Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Technology National University stood third.

In the Urdu competition, the first prize was won by Anas Ahmad (IIUI), the second by Uzair Khan from Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the third by Haq Nawaz Mughal from the University of AJK.

Chief guest, IIUI Rector Professor Fateh Malik said that the speech competition will enable students to achieve courage and ability to present and express themselves in front of others.
