LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Wednesday summoned the examination and interview record of the terminated ad-hoc pharmacists from Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) by January 31, the next date of hearing.

Counsel for the terminated pharmacists had argued that the chief minister terminated the petitioners on political grounds. However, he had exercised his discretionary powers and regularised other employees of the Health Department, the counsel said.

He prayed to the court to set aside the termination of the petitioners as illegal and without lawful authority.

A law officer informed the court that during the last three years 11,058 contractual employees of the department in grades 16 to 18 had been regularised on the recommendations of recruitment committees.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial summoned the record of written examination and interviews of petitioners conducted by the PPSC.
