After police inaction over court orders, LHC summons Punjab IGP

LHC asks IGP to appear before the court on December 28, explain the reason behind the failure.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday summoned Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) for two similar petitions seeking actions against police officials for not complying with court orders.

The first petition was filed by Mohammad Inaam Ali who was working as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Sammi Logistics Pvt Ltd Company and as a Country General Manager (CGM) for Daewoo Pakistan Express, sister company of Sammi logistics.

According to the petition, Ali had only resigned from the office of CGM due to some differences but the company’s directors made a fake document which stated that he has resigned from both the offices.

Ali said that he had approached the session court in this regard, which directed the SHO Gulberg police station and concerned ASP to record petitioner’s statements and take action in accordance with the law.

However, police officials have failed to register the case against the accused nominated in the application.

In the second petition, Rahmat Masih stated that the police had failed to act against an accused who stole property documents.

As per the petition, a judge had directed the SHO North Cantt police station to register a case against the accused.

After initial arguments, Justice Umar Ata Bandial directed the IG police to appear before the court on December 28, to explain why these police officials failed to obey the court orders.
