Implementing food act: Commissioner asks for fair prices

KARACHI: Karachi Commissioner Roshan Ali Shaikh directed to collect samples of food items from restaurants, hotels and bakeries to check them for hygiene, under the Food Act. He ordered the deputy commissioners to constitute a committee in their respective districts and cantonment board representatives should also be inducted into these committees. Shaikh directed that shopkeepers who were fined thrice for illegal price hike and hoardings should be sent to prison. He also directed all assistant commissioners and the Mukhtiarkars to visit two to three markets regularly.
