LAHORE:

Eight students were injured on Thursday in violence between two rival groups at Punjab University.

SHO Imran Mehboob of the Muslim Town police station said that Imamia Student Organisation (ISO) had staged a protest demonstration against the university administration for stopping them from holding a rally in commemoration of Hazarat Imam Hussain. He said that the protest was a reaction to the administration’s earlier approval of holding the rally, but had later backed out. He said some Islami Jamiat Talaba activist arrived at the administration block to stop the ISO protest.

This led to an argument among the students of the two groups, followed by stone throwing and shooting.

The injured students were identified as Ahad, 19, Usama 20, Mustaqeem, 22, Amjad, 23, Faisal, 21, Zubair, 20, Muazzam, 18, and Khurram, 18. They were given first aid by a rescue team on the spot.

Jamiat will be hammered it's final nail when Hussainiat will be resurrected in January at the University when it re-opens. 1994 will be avenged,
