Fall Fest: Singing for the maestros

A musical finale brings wraps up the healthy competitions.

The concluding day of “Fall Fest” sent students in to an excited frenzy as some of their favourite singers showed up at Preston University. Eminent contemporary singers Abbas Ali Khan, Nouman Khalid and Jamshed (Jimmy) Attre were the judges at the competition, while Shazia Manzoor, a renowned playback singer, was the chief guest on the occasion.


Hamdard University, Quaid-i-Azam University, University of Punjab, Islamia College University, Peshawar, COMWAVE Institute, Islamabad, and Preston University Islamabad, Kohat, Peshawar and Lahore participated in the singing competition.

Some students sang their own compositions while most stuck to their favourite classics, adding their own twist to the renditions. The judges expressed their dilemma at deciding on the winners, before announcing the winners.

Tahira Hameed from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad was awarded first position in the girls category. The second position went to Muneeba Ejaz of the University of Punjab. The third position was won by Javeria Jaffery of Hamdard University Islamabad.

Meanwhile, in the boys category, Nauman Iftikhar of Quaid-i-Azam University won the first position, the second position went to Muhammad Fawad of Preston University Islamabad and Tariq Zahid from the University of Punjab bagged the third prize.
