Class-IV employees of Malakand division set January 5, 2012, as the deadline for the government to fulfil their demands, failing which they would stage protests.

Speaking at a press conference, All Class-IV Employees President Malakand, Syed Khitab said class-IV employees are neglected in every political regime and no steps were ever taken to redress their issues. Detailing their demands, Khitab said, “Class-IV employees must be upgraded to class-V across the province since the government has already increased the salaries of other government employees while we have been completely ignored.” He said they were performing 24 hours guard duty in schools which was totally unjust.” class-IV employees are also deprived of pensions, even though contributions for CP fund are deducted every month. “Payments are not made to families of deceased employees, which is unfair to class-IV servants.”
