FAISALABAD: Two men were caught on Sunday while allegedly trying to dump the body of a three-year-old child they had killed after sodomising him.

Officials at the Rasheedabad police post told The Express Tribune that when they reached the scene a number of villagers were beating the suspects – Shoaib, 21, and Arshad, 23. They said the body of the child, Irfan, was lying on the road beside the sack used to cover it. They said the suspects were taken into custody after a heated argument with the villagers.

Talking to The Tribune, rickshaw driver Sajjad, a resident of Chak 221, said that he had caught the suspects walking out of a godown near his house carrying the body of his son in a sack. “I suspected something foul and stopped them. On founding my son’s body I shouted and called people to the spot,” he said.

Sajjad said Irfan had gone missing on Friday evening from outside his house where he was playing with some neighbourhood children.

An FIR has been registered against the suspects under Sections 302 (murder) and 294 (obscene acts at a public place) of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The villagers later staged a protest demonstration and blocked Faisalabad-Jhang Road, placing the body of the child on the road. They dispersed after SSP (Operations) Sadiq Dogar arrived and assured them of a speedy inquiry against the suspects.
