KARACHI:

All industries of Karachi and other cities of Sindh have voluntarily agreed to stop gas consumption for 24 hours beginning 7am on Sunday (December 18) to 7am on Monday (December 19), says Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).

A unanimous decision in this regard was reached in a meeting, chaired by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, at the Governor House on Thursday.

“The voluntary closure of industries will help ease gas shortage in the wake of extraordinarily acute situation and will help ensure normal gas pressure and bring back line pack situation to normal levels for the next six days,” SSGC said in a press release.

According to SSGC, line pack has fallen from 950 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) to a historical low of 750 mmcfd.
