KARACHI:
A man identified as Nizamuddin Jamali was killed while his accomplice managed to escape in an encounter with the police’s Anti-Car Lifting Cell. ACLC chief Javed Akbar Riaz said that they had been monitoring a particular route for the last couple of days and had set up a picket at 6 am on Thursday. He said that the suspects would steal the cars in Karachi and take them to Balochistan via the Shikarpur-Sukkur route. “The suspects were in two stolen Toyota Corollas,” he said. “They probably thought it was a safe route. They tried to escape when they saw the police.” He added that Jamali had a criminal record and was arrested in 2011 for stealing cars.
