Flood rehabilitation: 82 families to get house keys next week

Village constructed with assistance from NGOs and a business group.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is scheduled to inaugurate a village constructed for flood affected people of Muzafargarh in Basti Khara Niazi. 


The village consists of 82 houses and has been constructed with assistance from several non-government organisations and Thal Limited, a group Jute Mills based in Muzaffargarh.

Of the 82 houses, 50 were constructed from Rs150 million provided by the Thal Limited and the remaining 32 from funds provided by NGOs. Construction of houses was overseen by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

Jute Mills told a group of journalists during a recent visit to Muzaffargarh that all arrangements for the inauguration ceremony had been finalised.
The Express Tribune has learnt all each house has been constructed over 6.5 marla land. It contains two bedrooms, a kitchen, a toilet, an animal shed and a courtyard.

The village contains a dispensary, a shopping area, two schools and a veterinary hospital.
