Kamran Yousaf, The Express Tribune senior reporter in Islamabad, says the Pakistani government is looking for a way to not have a complete breakdown in relations with the United States. And that a formal apology will go a long way to help simmer down anti-American sentiment within the country.
Pakistan decided to sit out the upcoming conference in Bonn about Afghanistan as a form of protest for the violation of its borders. Yousuf, however says after many requests from the international community Prime Minister Yousaf Gilani could be rethinking this strategy and may agree to send an ambassador to represent Pakistan at Bonn.
Yousaf adds Pakistan has already agreed to the draft of the Bonn conference, thus not being there will have little impact in the outcome of the meetings.

It would be a huge service to the mankind if Pakistan does not attend this. Pakistanis have done enough is enough mayhem world over already..
Pakistan should not attend!
@Mohammad Ali Siddiqui: Yeah. Pakistan should never bow down but instead expects everyone else to? That's definitely the well known style of Pakistan logic that everyone finds hilarious.
Such a thing can only happen from a position of power and advantage. Hardly any countries fall under that category in regard to the validation and weight of Pakistan's dictations.
Wow. I had expected this to happen. Well no surprise. Matter of fact is it is Pakistan's loss to not attend the Bonn. So why such a fuss and drama at first place ? Just to get international attention ? Pakistan seriously lack credibility and self respect.
I don't want to mock Pakistanis. But....errr....."I SAID SO"!!!!
very sad
............. and the accounts have been credited.
"In today’s episode of the Tribune Take we take a look at the refusal of US President Barack Obama to issue a formal apology or condolences "
What Obama said is there will be no apology until investigation is over. He did NOT say there will be no condolence. In fact they say that seniors starting from Hilary Clinton onwards have expressed condolence over loss of life. Please do not twist the words.
If we have already agreed to the draft in advance (before the NATO incident) than whats the point of attending it ? you mean its a nice formality trip to Germany ? better to sit back to charge your protest atleast it will give a signal to the NATO/US that not to repeat anything like this in future. And yeah I agree with the PM the other day that for us, Pakistan's sovereignty is much important than of Afghanistan.
If the US does not want to establish where the chain of command went wrong and why local commanders were allowed to jeopardize Regional stability than the orders must have came from the top. Therefore Pakistan should avoid Bonn circus and allow similar protection and permissions to our army. I believe order have been given to that effect
Pakistan's civil and Military leadership has made this country a joker in the world. They don't have honor, dignity and decision power.
Empty Vessels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If only the rulers of this country could know or understand that the real power to rule come form the will of the people.Instead of looking to west, east or ummah if they could look at the people they would know if they have to or they do not have to go to Bonn.Basti ka sara log hi atish parast tha/Ghar jal raha tha aur samandar qarib tha.
So the boycott drama is over ?
do u have a choice ????
That's more like a good boy.
I do not agree to send Pakistan’s representative to participate in the Bonn conference, unless US formally apologize for murdering 24 Pakistan army soldiers and injuring their colleagues.
We should learn not to bow down under any pressure and in any circumstances.
Pakistan is a sovereign nation and needs to be respected by all countries in US. We are no personal slaves of the US that any thing US says and we start running around.
The best example to follow in the world is of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and after his of Mr. Mohatir Mohamad and no one else.
Pakistan's bluff has been called. They have bitten more than they can chew and now struggling to breath. They WILL open the supply line and they WILL attend the Bonn conference, but after some face saving drama.
Shame on our politicians :( just to please the foreign community they are selling their sovereignty and the honour and respect of the people of Pakistan.
As expected!!!
