The statements were made at a media briefing by Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Waheed Arshad and Director General (DG) Military Operations General Ashfaq on Tuesday.
They said that currently the rethinking of military relations with the United States was underway and the final decision would be taken by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.
They said the inquiries into the June 2008, September 2010 and July 2011 incidents had no results either.
There are four Pakistan and Isaf Afghanistan joint coordination centres, and the attack took place despite procedures being in place, they said.
They said there had been no violation by Pakistan on the Mohmand Agency border. Nato and Isaf were aware of the border check posts in the area and had fired on them from 12:05am to 2:15am.
The Pakistani officer at the Tactical Operation Centre in Afghanistan had been misinformed, they said, adding that an American sergeant had told him that a Pakistan check post had fired on Special Forces in the border area and had changed his statement after seven minutes saying the fire had come from a different check post.
They said Volcano was the first check post that was attacked and communication had been cut off right after. Soldiers at the Boulder check post fired 26 air bursts but did not go after the helicopters as the situation could have gotten bad.
Company Commander, Major Mujahid was killed when he was going to Boulder check post, they said.

They bombarded nukes on Hiroshima and said "it was necessary to keep peace". They funded and fueled many regime changes in the name of democracy. They attacked Iraq on allegations of WMDs and later said sorry it was intelligence failure. They have killed thousands of innocent people in Afghanistan to punish what Osama Bin Laden (their version) did with WTC. Cutting short they now attacked Pakistani check posts and are saying "ït was not purposefully"..... What a country is US with no morality, humanity or sense.
@Shyam: no, what came to my mind as far as investigations are things like raymond davis, which the usa promised to investigate but did nothing. [the last thing i read about him is that he was arrested somewhere in the usa for beating up and old guy over a parking space! he's an uneducated thug] i also think of aafia siddiqui, and the 9 kids gunned down while they were collecting firewood in march, 2011, and all the accidental civilian deaths in night raids, and the single torture/death case that the 'justice' dept has decided to 'investigate' out of 100s, and the 3 simultaneous 'suicides' in gitmo in 2006- depressing things like that. but the usa is sure putting a lot of work into investigating julian assange who dared to expose their underhandedness and lies. i dont live in a good country. i thot it was, but its not. i wont be loyal to something that seems garbage to me. i dont know why euro bends to its will. i guess its a question of money. everyone's integrity is for sale.
Now Americans are blaming Pakistan for every thing. I think thats there history as they first use countries and then when they have taken best use of them, they deploy their army for these countries distruction. same happened with Iraq etc etch.
My question is, why Americans are going into different countries and invading sovereign states and their borders. How would Amercians would feel, if Rusia or China would do the same with them. What right they have to take miltary action against any nation or country. what right they have to kill innocent civilians engaged in marriages in north waziristan in Pakistan with their drone attacks.
I think, now Pakistan has to take a firm stance against any miltary adventerousim and have to stood up against the tyrant US zionists. And the funny thing is, after killing innocent civilians, then these fools expect other nations to love them despite their barbaric miltary actions.
@1stResponder i cant imagine anybody placing any faith in an investigation where an agency investigates itself..
Are you talking about the 26/11 Mumbai attack investigation being conducted by Pakistan?? ...oh wait!!!
@hedgefunder: i cant imagine anybody placing any faith in an investigation where an agency investigates itself. the 'investigation', as always will result in the agency finding itself innocent of wrong-doing and pointing the finger of blame at someone else. there wont be any investigation. there never is. there is just the preparation of statements made in self-defense. maybe NATO/ISAF/PAK will all end up just agreeing to blame some group they all dislike.
@Ibrahim Seleighvakoevic: what exactly is the usa giving to pakistan? is it sending them flower bouquets, cake, and ice cream, or is it sending them mostly military equipment so that they can fight the usa's wars? seriously, has the usa demonstrated generosity toward helping pakistan or is it merely bribing them to be cooperative in the usa's ME agenda? i dont think the usa gives anyone a dime unless they expect a dollar in return.
HedgeFunder: Sir please share your identity with us if you receive over a 1000 applications a day. Don't be so afraid. Back up your comments with your name, you aren't important enough for someone to come at you, I assure you that. So please Sir, share your important name with us since we are graced by such a hi-fi banker on our Pakistani newspaper. And also Sir, how come you have so much time on your hands? I work for NatWest bank as a cashier and I still do not have so much time to come on here and comment, but every time I am online, you have commented on every article.
Btw, do you work in Human Resources by any chance? :)
I don't usually comment here because its useless but I'd like to agree with the person above and share a story with you all. I worked for BlackRock for 14 years. Yet, I wouldn't go around keeping my online handle as 'HedgeFunder' unless I was one of the few sick young chaps who work for us but when they're out at happy hour, they prefer to look down upon people working in other cross functions. Or unless I wasn't working for a hedge fund at all. I'd like to agree with the person who said that this 'HedgeFunder' needs to get a life, and perhaps a job to avoid publishing his remarks and defending them as the only correct ones around. There are a lot of things you need to learn in this world young man (I'm pretty sure you are younger than I am). And yes, I would love to offer you an internship if you'd like, please respond here - I will make it a point to monitor this article's comments. Have a nice day everyone.
@Peace4all: when us will stop aid pakistan will be more prosperous.benefits of independent government are far more than a nominal amount which america gives to pakistan.by saying no to aid pakistan will be in a better bargaining position
@Ibrahim Seleighvakoevic: mr usa is only giving some peanuts to pakistan and even if usa REIMBURSES a fraction of pakistans loss.that is no favour.america owes so much more to pakistan.so stop repeating this so called aid mantra.
@DB: What is Premeditated? Do they meditate before attack?
@BaapOfHedgeFunder: Your comments are hilarious and so is your nom de plume. I had such a good laugh because your comments are very pertinent. Thank you.
@Hedgefunder - while you're at it - get yourself a life. I feel sorry for you.
National sovereignty is an obligation as well as an entitlement. A government that will not perform the role of a government forfeits the rights of a government. it should be with justice In the absence of justice, what is sovereignty but organized robbery?
@cherish you are forgetting us for the Israelies. We don't like to kill people and play victim. In this case we are the victims of aggression.
Of course it was carried out on purpose. What else? Someone's gotta pay for all those Strategic Assets!!
PAF's F-16 were getting upgraded to CNG .... Korea and China was helping ... so.. the delay in delivery ... Next time ISAF and NATO will face tough opposition from the newly loaded F-16's with CNG engines ...
This crazy war is getting even more crazier and hazier.
They said that currently the rethinking of military relations with the United States was underway
They were always separate entities in Pakistan; the military and the government. Hope they think and act as one
@Imran: what is absurd about the statement mr.imran (no doubt..a fake name)?
this was bad, american /NATO forces must feel shame, once they carry out these activities they say they are trying to stop terrorism but once somebody else does this activity, then they say that is terrorism, American must not check patience of Pakistan of Pakistani nation and Army. those who embraced Shahdat they also had their families, they also had their belongings, they were not supporting terrorism, they were trying to protect their homeland against miscreants and protecting neighbors, but neighbor's don't deserve this. NATO/ american'll be penalized for this.
@ Imran
There is a difference between carrying out a planned attack or a purposeful attack. Stop spreading your frustration. The attack wasn't well planned at all even though it was done with a purpose.
@ Pak Army You guys badly need to formulate your operational preparedness in responding to such attacks. This is not an excuse that PAF was not called since the situation was not clear until morning. There will never be a morning attack so you better find ways to figure out the "situations" the moment someone attacks so that you are not crying afterwards. This is your Job and that is what we are paying you for!
@Imran: Your argument is funny & senseless.
Pakistan Army is furious and they have general support of their people in this matter.
@Mohammad, Pakistan will be a free counntry , once 1.it does not depend on foreign aid, ,loan write-offs, deferments to run the country and 2. does not depend on military aid to feel safe and can manufacture most of its defense needa and pay for it 3. does not depend on military rule to run the country.
Until that happens, Pakistan will be what Pakistan is.
@Chilli: PAF was told by americans that it was an attack on insurgents . Mountainous terrain results in poor communication . western border is designed to defend against militants not USAF
Is it not a clear statement that actions of non state actors or strategic assets is Pakistan's sole responsibility. Isn't it writing on the wall.
@Cherish: Another scenario: The US/Afghan forces were aiding the infilttration of TTP-Fazlullah forces into Pakistan
This is the time when Pakistan can rise from the West.
We must stand on our firm stand and there will be no negotiations with any country in the world.
Any trick or submissive attitude will not work. We want to work as a free country without any pressure from any quarter, including the US. Enough is enough.
The day Pakistan government will bend towards the US, the President and the Prime Minister will be out of their jobs. The whole cabinet will be put upside down. Take my words as granted and do not try to be over smart in any manner in respect to the integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan.
@hamza khan:
Pakistan army is responsible for all of this to begin with. Your statement reads like a bad joke.
The most likely scenario- The ISAF was chasing some Afghan Taliban near the border. The Pakistani forces helped the Taliban to get into Pakistan by firing at the ISAF helis. ISAF retaliated and now Pakistan is playing the victim.
An internal investigation is now due, to ascertain why the PAF did not come into action. The choppers should have been brought down. There is no excuse.
pakistan is castrated by US. its survival is due to US. this episode will be forgotten as was Raymond Daivis.and Abbotabaad act. all these violated sovereignty of Pakistan we know pakistan its dependent on US,CHINA,ARABS,TURKEY
Pak side calling the allies to stop the attack?? Hardly sound like allies to me. The sad rot in our institutions is now blaringly obvious.
Pakistan should not buckle under the pressures from USA and other NATO countries directly and through our friends like Turkey, UAE and others.Supply should not be resumed and Shamis base should be taken over.
This is very irresponsible statement from people so high up in Pakistani Army !!! There are also completely contradictory to the statement made by certain Pak defence official to Washington Post today!!! The question is why is Pakistan not willing to await for the investigation's outcome?? Perhaps as they know the actual reality already !!! There are some very serious flaws with the whole episode !!
Once the US stops funding the Pakistani government. People will die of dehydration.
just wait for a week and all be well once again between pak army and her allies, U.S army
@Chilli: dubai air show ;)
I believe Pakistan Army could have retaliated but considering our so called Lazy Government they have already decided not to touch 'point of no return'. And this is evident from the current statements and decisions which have been issued by the PM Office not Pak army. I support this tactic from Army side that Political government should take the lead, show some courage and the whole nation including Forces will stand beside them.
Yeah - lets not let any facts get in the way of determining who's right - looks like Pakistan doesn't care who fired first - what counts is that Pakistan lost this battle.
@Imran: The US lies and plays games. Pakistan has been trying to work with the US but with the US war effort gone sourt, they are looking to point the blame to Pakistan to escape the obvious that the US and its allies have lost this war as well.
Muahaha
All the Militants in Waziristan must be celebrating. No more droning for a couple of day atleast.
Sad part is that US and Afghans had boots on the ground inside Pakistan on the night of NATO attack. They must have been fishing out residents of Mohmand Tribal area to check if they could intrude intrude inside Pakistan without being discovered. A firefight with the tribals must have occurred raising alarm of foreign presence at which the intruders must have called for gunship cavalry to protect their cover. Fearing discovery of boots on Pakistan soil by the border posts the US purposely wanted to wipe them all out to leave no trial. That is why they cannot show any casualities etc., Pakistan intelligence with tracker dogs should survey the area to see if they can find empty cartridges and other materials used by the US\NATO for evidence.
@Imran: Why do you think Pakistan has been hedging its bets in Afghanistan in the first place? Duplicity of US is not something recently discovered.
@mran, you think wars are easy as videogames where you can see all the stats and colours. NATO & ISAF are play the confusion card over first fire.
Premeditated attack by NATO to make Pakistan react and give justification for invasion of Pakistan. Since NATO is losing the war in Afghanistan, actions like these remain their only gambit.
America is an ENEMY of Pakistan's.
No RECONCILIATION with America.
we stand with our forces and they should cutt off all connections with USA we are honorable enuf to save the country
Where is PAF by the way??? The very existence and preparedness of our Army is a big question mark.
To send the terrorists back to the stone age. Strategic assets never come for free. Who cares about a few pakistanis when they are protecting the all important strategic assets.
